The College of Social Work (BASW) has welcomed the news that MPs will debate its plans for a government chief social worker.

Shadow social care spokesman, Emily Thornberry MP, has tabled an amendment to the Health and Social Care Bill to create the post and rename the Health Professionals Council as the General Social Care Council.
