MPs have warned, the Government's affordable homes programme risks making tenants dependent on housing benefits.

The Government's affordable homes programme risks making tenants dependent on housing benefits and undermining wider welfare reforms, MPs have warned.

Under the scheme, which aims to build 80,000 homes by 2015, grants to housing providers average £20,000.This is around one-third of funding available under the previous scheme.
