The Scottish Labour Party leadership candidate Jim Murphy has called for more powers to be transferred from Holyrood to local communities.
Mr Murphy called for 'devo max within Scotland' and pledged, if he becomes First Minister, to devolve the work programme to local communities and give them more powers over welfare.
In a speech in Glasgow, he said: ‘Councillors, charities and local organisations working together in different parts of Scotland are far better placed to end the cycle of worklessness and deprivation than the Government in Edinburgh.
