NALC 'gob smacked' by £9m council tax support cash grab

The representative body for parish and town councils will this week use its annual general meeting to demand the Government should pay £9m in compensation for withheld localised council tax support.

The representative body for parish councils will this week demand at its annual conference the Government should pay £9m in compensation for withheld localised council tax support.

The National Association of Local Council's (NALC) annual general meeting on Wednesday will urge the Department for Communities and Local Government to force billing authorities to pass on funding earmarked for town and parish councils.

Cllr Ken Browse, chairman of NALC said: ‘To say I am disappointed at these figures would be an understatement – I'm gobsmacked.'
