Ex-NAO boss doubts savings can be made

Sir John Bourn, former head of the National Audit Office, has cast further doubt over the Government’s efficiency ambitions.

Sir John Bourn, former head of the National Audit Office (NAO), has cast further doubt over the Government's stated ambition of achieving cumulative £30bn Spending Review efficiency savings.

Speaking to The MJ, Sir John, who left the NAO in 2008, asked: ‘How likely is it that such a reduction will be achieved? On recent past experience, not very.'
