Local government has called again on the Government to rethink its funding of social care after a report by spending watchdogs warned increasing pressures and falling funding pose a substantial risk to the system. 

It's report suggests the Government does not know if the system will be able to continue to absorb the pressures it faces, and it claims plans to improve outcomes and cut costs will be ‘challenging to achieve'.
