Proposals to simplify EU procurement rules for social, health and education services find sector favour.

Proposals to simplify EU procurement rules for social, health and education services have been welcomed by the National Association for Voluntary and Community Agencies.

Plans to let social services benefit from a less-rigorous regime – which include raising the contract threshold from €200,000 (£165,000) to €500,000 (£414,000), and applying only basic principles of transparency and equal treatment – follow last year's consultation by the European Commission.
