NEET numbers drop to lowest since records began

The number of young people aged 16 to 24 deemed not to be NEET has decreased by 118,000 in the last year, statisticians have reported.

The number of young people aged 16 to 24 deemed not to be in education, employment or training (NEET) has decreased by 118,000 in the last year, statisticians have reported.

Figures released by the Office for National Statistics (ONS) on 22 May revealed there were 975,000 young people in the NEET category in the UK– representing 13.5% of this age cohort, in the first quarter of 2014.
