Newham wins backing to lower the stakes

Newham LBC has enlisted the support of 93 councils nationwide to back a call for the Government to reduce the stake money gamblers can wager on controversial gaming machines from £100 to £2 a spin.

Newham LBC has enlisted the support of a further 93 councils drawn from across the political spectrum to back a proposal calling on government to massively reduce the stake money gamblers can wager on controversial gaming machines from £100 to £2 a spin.

The east London borough has claimed this is the highest number of councils to ever sign up to a  Sustainable Communities Act proposal.
