Newham LBC has spent more than £111m on one office block, including almost £10,000 on light fittings.

The findings, from a Freedom of Information request, reveal the council spent £92m more than previously thought – when stamp duty and the purchase price are considered. Local government minister, Bob Neill, called the expenditure ‘laughable'.
