An anonymous complaint made to Brussels - alleging Newham Council's £40m loan to West Ham United FC could breach EU state aid laws – has, it seems, helped scupper a deal to transfer ownership of the Olympic stadium.
Rival east London teams Leyton Orient and Tottenham Hotspur are still pursuing judicial reviews threatening protracted legal action into February's original decision, which would have effectively handed ownership of the stadium after next year's Games to a joint-venture between Newham and West Ham.
