A new report by the King's Fund has called for a more strategic approach to volunteering in the NHS and social care.

The report warns that cuts to local authority budgets could have a significant impact on the number of people who volunteer in the future. 'Volunteering should be used as a means of improving quality rather than reducing short-term costs, and this vision needs to be communicated clearly,' said research fellow, Chris Naylor.
