NILGA calls for end to Ulster restructuring

The Northern Ireland Local Government Association (NILGA) has called for plans to cut the number of councils in the province from 26 to seven to be scrapped.

Arnold Hatch, chairman of the NILGA review of public administration working group, said the association was ‘shocked and dismayed' at secretary of state Peter Hain's plans to create seven ‘super councils'.
