A study by the New Local Government Network (NLGN) has mapped areas of the country most prepared to benefit and most at risk of being doubly deprived from the Big Society agenda.
Statistical analysis undertaken by the localism think tank suggests there are grounds for ''cautious optimism'', disproving the linkage between a community's wealth and ''Big Society'' resources, and finding that some deprived areas are rich in community wealth.Based on new polling by Ipsos MORI, the study further suggests there is an untapped well of people keen to get more involved in community activities such as staffing libraries, sharing skills or mentoring.
