Local government has given a warm welcome to new communities secretary Sajid Javid, who has been giving the first signals of where he intends to take the sector.

The good news is that devolution is still firmly on the table – and his predecessor Greg Clark is likely to continue to push the devolution and economic growth agenda from his new role as secretary of state for business, energy and industrial strategy.
