North Lanarkshire Council chief executive is to retire after 31 years in local government, it has been announced. 

Paul Jukes joined Motherwell DC, the predecessor to the council, in 1987. Announcing his retirement he said: ‘I am very proud to have been able to serve the council and its communities throughout these years.
