North Lanarkshire Council has appointed regeneration and environmental services director Paul Jukes as its new chief executive, replacing Gavin Whitefield who retires next month after 15 years in the post.

In Whitehall, Anthony Kealy has agreed to act as interim Better Care Fund programme director from this week.
