After a summer of wobbles, it is now apparent to many in the commentariat that the Northern Powerhouse lives on.

Theresa May's repeated support for the scheme – not least in her maiden leader's speech at Tory conference – and a new Northern Powerhouse Institute led by Osborne himself have convinced many the Powerhouse is in safe hands under the new administration.
