Northern Irish councils have suggested local authorities in England, Scotland and Wales could benefit after a ‘landmark' legal case.

Mid Ulster DC believes the local government sector in Northern Ireland could be due refunds of up to £70m after a tribunal ruled that VAT charges levied on council sports, recreation and leisure facilities since 2006 should be repaid.
