The ‘greatest summer of sport' continues to glow into autumn. Around 55,000 runners competed in the 32nd annual Great North Run – which passes through Newcastle and Gateshead before finishing by the seafront in South Shields.

Double Olympic gold medallist Mo Farah appeared at the start of the race with Mayor of South Tyneside, Cllr Eileen Leask and Mayoress Cllr Olive Punchion.
