After the expenses scandal, you would have thought that politicians might be more careful about their reputations when it comes to accepting freebies.

But clearly children's minister Robert Goodwill didn't get the memo as he opened his keynote address at the National Children and Adult Services conference last week with a series of quips straight out of a 20th century politicians' joke handbook.
