Oflog independence row stems from broken relationships

The concerns over Oflog’s independence illustrate councils’ low level of faith in Government, which stems from Government’s evident low level of faith in local authorities, says Paul Marinko.

Local government's current concerns over the independence of the Office for Local Government (Oflog) go a long way to illustrate how strained relations between the Government and councils now are.

As we report this week, chair of the Levelling Up, Housing and Communities Committee Clive Betts pushed hard in his questioning of Oflog interim chair, Lord Morse, and chief executive, Josh Goodman, around how ‘truly independent' the new body will be.
