Ofsted abandons multi-agency protection plans

Former children's minister shocked by Ofsted's decision to abandon multi-agency protection plans.

The former children's minister who pushed for multi-agency inspections of children's services has said he was shocked Ofsted has dropped the plans which were due to start in June.

Ofsted chief inspector Sir Michael Wilshaw announced plans to combine the monitoring of local authority child protection arrangements with services for children who are looked after, on Friday, which effectively delays plans to launch a new multi-agency child protection inspection system.
