Ofsted's 'credibility is on the line' and its inspectors should examine all English local authorities to ensure councils are tackling child sexual exploitation (CSE), a panel of MPs has reported today.
The recommendation is contained in a hard-hitting report into Ofsted's role in Rotherham and further government issues published by the Commons communities and local government committee.
In its report, the panel of MPs warned Ofsted's inspection framework lacked sufficient focus on CSE and found its reporting regime risked giving local authorities false assurance that widespread abuse on the scale witnessed in Rotherham was not being repeated.
