Oldham Council's community energy-switching scheme has offered households average annual savings of £171 after holding its reverse auction – potentially putting up to £1.4m back into residents' pockets.

Around 8,700 homes registered for the 'Power to the People' campaign, which held an energy auction on November 26 for suppliers to offer their lowest price per kilowatt of electricity and cubic meter of gas.
