MPs have warned the soaring cost of security could mar the 2012 London Olympic Games.

MPs have warned the soaring cost of security could mar the 2012 London Olympic Games – budgeted at £9.3bn - due to poor planning by organisers.

A doubling in the number of security guards needed at venues, from 10,000 to 23,700, has meant that security costs have increased from £282m to £553m, the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) reported on 9 March.
