Ombudsman backs man in £100k support funding row

Man with learning disabilities lost more than £100,000 in support funding due to Bradford City council.

A man with learning disabilities lost more than £100,000 in support funding, due to ‘maladministration' at Bradford City Council, the Local Government Ombudsman has found.

A report by local government ombudsman, Anne Seex, issued on 6 August, found the council provided incorrect information to the Independent Living Fund (ILF) – claiming a client, Mr A, was going into residential care when, in fact, he was moving into supported housing. As a result, Mr A lost the £180 a week he received from the ILF. The council has agreed to fully compensate Mr A for the monies he has lost as a result.
