ONS reveals a glimmer of hope for public finances

There was a glimmer of light for the public finances with latest figures showing Government borrowing last month was £15.6bn lower than in April last year.

There was a glimmer of light for the public finances with latest figures showing Government borrowing last month was £15.6bn lower than in April last year.

Borrowing for the whole financial year ending March 2021 is estimated to have been £300.3bn, revised down by £2.8bn from last month's first provisional estimate but still the highest borrowing since 1946.
