Deliberative democracy is helping bridge the gap between people and policy says Reema Patel

We are all familiar with two forms of democracy – but there is in fact a third. Alongside representative democracy (through the election of politicians) and direct democracy (such as referenda), many argue that deliberative democracy can help us address complex questions, reconcile views and build consensus. Deliberative democracy complements representative and direct democracy by helping to build a consensus.
