Outgoing leader calls for unitary creation

The outgoing Conservative leader of North Yorkshire CC has called for his council to be merged with districts to form a unitary authority.

The outgoing Conservative leader of North Yorkshire CC has called for his council to be merged with districts to form a unitary authority.

Cllr John Weighell, who has decided to step down from the post after almost 14 years, said he hoped the authority would ‘carry on looking for efficiencies as money for all councils becomes even scarcer'.
