Concerns have been raised with a group of MPs about the lack of ‘independent comprehensive oversight over local government finance'.

Newly published written evidence to the communities and local government committee by Debt Resistance UK highlighted the gap created by the closure of the Audit Commission last year and the Financial Conduct Authority distancing itself from regulating council borrowing.
