Oxford City Council announces plans to put CCTV inside its 650 licensed taxis,but brings criticism from civil liberties campaigners.

Oxford City Council has announced plans to put CCTV inside its 650 licensed taxis, recording all conversations with passengers in the process, but the move has sparked heavy criticism from civil liberties campaigners.

The cameras will record everything from the moment any taxi's engine starts running to 30 minutes after its been switched off, and is believed to be the first area where CCTV will record sound as well as images.
