Heather Jameson talks to newly-announced London Councils chair Cllr Peter John about the association’s plans for the future after a significant shake-up of personnel and the need to establish a unified set of priorities for the benefit of all London local authorities.

May's elections in the London boroughs may not have delivered the huge political upset predicted in some quarters, but local politics in the capital have nevertheless seen a dramatic shift. While the election results have been well documented, there has been a significant shake-up at London Councils, with a quarter of the borough leaders replaced after the May polls.

And it is not just many of the boroughs that have a new leader – so too has the association after Southwark LBC leader Cllr Peter John took up the reigns earlier this week.
