Park homes industry 'infiltrated by rogues'

MPs report how park homes industry has been ‘infiltrated by a rogue element’and councils lack powers to stop bad practice.

The park homes industry, supplying caravan-like homes to predominantly older residents, has been ‘infiltrated by a rogue element', and councils do not currently possess powers to stop bad practices, MPs have claimed.

A report published on 20 June by the influential Commons' local government committee, warns legislation covering the sector – giving councils responsibility for licensing and monitoring the park homes industry – is ‘beyond inadequate', and fails to protect vulnerable residents from ‘widespread' poor practices across the market.
