Beleaguered David Parsons has retained the leadership of Leicestershire CC while he is investigated over expenses allegations, despite revelations that he settled bills using the bank account of his defunct firm – a possible breach of the Companies Act.

Cllr Parsons won the continued support of the county's Conservative group following a crunch meeting that he arranged on 10 February and in the wake of his referral to the council's standards committee.
