Parsons resignation: Leicestershire CC alters constitution

Leicestershire CC councillors vote to change the authority's constitution to ensure council leaders will be voted in a year at a time.

Leicestershire CC councillors have voted to change the authority's constitution to ensure council leaders in future will be voted in a year at a time - in the aftermath of David Parsons' departure.

At a meeting of full council held 4 July, councillors approved a motion to revise arrangements, from four-year terms to annual mandates, which was moved, by acting Conservative group leader Cllr Nick Rushton and Liberal Democrat Cllr David Bill.
