The Government's use of quangos remain unaccountable despite coalition reforms, senior MPs have warned today.
A report issued today by the Public Administration Select Committee (PASC) said the system for running executive agencies, non-ministerial departments and public bodies - which include NHS England with an annual £95.6bn budget - remains ‘confused and opaque', even in central government.
The panel of MPs called for the Cabinet Office to draw up a clear map of the state to simplify and rationalise the array of public bodies whose boundaries and responsibilities are often blurred and overlap.
