Fellow ministers have accused communities secretary Eric Pickles of political 'grandstanding' over public pronouncements he has made regarding flooding in the Somerset levels, it has emerged.

Mr Pickles assumed the role of floods minister last week when environment secretary Owen Paterson was rushed to hospital for emergency treatment on a damaged retina.
