Health secretary, Andrew Lansley, has pledged an extra £70m this year to local NHS services and councils to help support ex-patients in their homes following hospital treatment.

Health secretary, Andrew Lansley, has pledged an extra £70m this year to local NHS services and councils to help support ex-patients in their homes following hospital treatment.

Speaking at the Conservative Party conference, Mr Lansley said the ‘re-ablement' packages were designed to give people support for six weeks after they left hospital.
