Last week a House of Lords committee urged local authorities to devote more resources to post-adoption support for children and their carers. Michael Burton reports
In its report the Lords Committee on Adoption Legislation, set up in May 2012, says adoptive parents need more support to help them care for vulnerable children, especially those from care who have experienced neglect and abuse. It also criticises the government's drive to increase the number of adoptions, warning that it should not be at the expense of other routes such as special guardianship or kinship care.
