Pension pool to smash Osborne target

A local government pension pool has announced plans to accumulate more than £30bn of assets by the end of 2021, beating the Government’s original expectation.

A local government pension pool has announced plans to accumulate more than £30bn of assets by the end of 2021, beating the Government's original expectation.

Then chancellor George Osborne called for the assets of the 89 pension funds in the Local Government Pension Scheme to be merged in October 2015, with each containing at least £25bn of assets.
