Further sweeping changes to England and Wales' 89 town hall pension schemes including mergers are on the cards from next year, it was confirmed this week.

In a carefully worded statement to pension experts, local government minister Brandon Lewis said he would 'not shy away' from reducing the number of schemes to cut overheads.
