Town hall pension funds could be hit with an extra £500m charge a year because of conflicting coalition pension reforms, a leading expert has warned.

The Public Service Pensions Bill and the Department for Work and Pensions' (DWP) White Paper on the single-tier pension could combine to load a further £9bn a year on the public purse, think-tank, the Centre for Policy Studies (CPS), has claimed.
