People pessimistic on long-term local economic prospects, poll reveals

New polling for the Centre for Progressive Policy (CPP) shows people are markedly downbeat about the long-term economic prospects of their local area, with growing inequality a concern for many.

New polling for the Centre for Progressive Policy (CPP) shows people are markedly downbeat about the long-term economic prospects of their local area, with growing inequality a concern for many.

Across the UK, 59% of people expect local economic conditions to get worse over the next five years. The North of England is more pessimistic than average, with 65% of those in the region expecting things to get worse. In Yorkshire and Humber this rises to 70%.
