Suffolk CC has appointed a permanent director to lead improvements and efficiency savings in its children and young people's services directorate.

Sue Cook, who has been interim corporate director of children and learning at Southend-on-Sea Council since February 2011, is a qualified social worker and between 2006 and 2011, was head of children's specialist services at the authority.
