Perth's UK 'city' status is restored

Chelmsford, Perth and St Asaph have beaten off competition from 22 other UK towns and have been awarded official 'city' status.

Chelmsford, Perth (pictured) and St Asaph have beaten off competition from 22 other UK towns and have been awarded official ‘city' status as part of the Queen's Diamond Jubilee celebrations.

The Cabinet Office made the announcement last week, as part of the preparations for the official Jubilee celebration period in June.
