Election season is hotting up, which means leaflets from candidates vying for political power have been landing on Diary’s doormat. As well as the usual contenders, there are always a few obscure parties throwing their hats into the ring.

Election season is hotting up, which means leaflets from candidates vying for political power have been landing on Diary's doormat. As well as the usual contenders, there are always a few obscure parties throwing their hats into the ring.

But this election season at least there will be no candidates standing from The Phoenix Political Party, which voluntarily deregistered itself with the Electoral Commission last month just as everyone else was starting to practise their leaflet posting skills.
