Councils will receive new powers to impose unlimited fines on 'those who ignore planning rules and defy the law', communities secretary Eric Pickles has announced.

Speaking to the Conservative Party conference on 8 October, Mr Pickles unveiled the plans, which he said were aimed at preventing the illegal establishment of traveller communities.
