Communities secretary Eric Pickles has today hit out at local authority 'democracy dodgers' seeking to increase council tax bills below the 2% local referendum threshold.

Communities secretary Eric Pickles has today hit out at local authority 'democracy dodgers' seeking to increase council tax bills below the 2% local referendum threshold.

Writing in The Daily Telegraph today, Mr Pickles says any councils which try to pass increased levies which avoid triggering local votes will be punished next year.
