Doubters of Eric Pickles' talents are ‘fools', the Labour councillor expected to be the Local Government Association's (LGA) next chair has said.

David Sparks told The MJ that the much-maligned communities secretary was an ‘extremely able politician and anyone who thinks otherwise is a fool'.
